Everything was finally perfect. The air seemed lighter, almost humming with relief. Adi had left for work, his footsteps fading like a soft drumbeat. Vidya had taken the day off, determined to be with Parul her little anchor in the storm.

The doorbell rang. She opened the door, and the person standing there made her feel a thousand conflicting emotions at once-joy, frustration, and an ache so deep it could shatter glass.

"Beta we missed you. We came here to-"

"Stop. Stop it, Maa, Baba. Stop it!" Her voice cracked, and she broke down, the tears streaming like monsoon rain. "You have no idea what I've been through! What happened here , the beatings, the neglect, the constant fear. Aunty, Uncle, Aasha they never loved me, not once. Why did you leave me here? Why not Australia? I could have studied there, I could have been-" She choked on her words. "Why? Maa, my health is ruined. Asthma, stress a lifetime of scars inside and out!"

Her father opened his mouth, desperate, "Beta, give us a chance to explai-"

She raised her hand like a sword. "Bas! Beta mat kaho mujhe. Mujhe mat kaho kuch bhi!"

Parul stepped forward, her small but firm hand on Vidya's arm. "Vidi, hatt. Uncle, Aunty, let them come in."

And then they stepped inside-and the world seemed to stop.

It wasn't just a house. It was a palace. Walls glowed in the softest, purest white, each corner whispering elegance. Jhumars that looked like they belonged in a royal haveli hung from the ceilings, scattering light like diamonds across the room. The kitchen wasn't just a kitchen; it was a sanctuary. Every utensil shone, every corner begged you to cook and stay, to pour your heart into something beautiful.

The balcony stretched out like a private sky, larger than most master bedrooms, a place where sunsets could be captured and memories made. Photos lined the walls Rajsa, Vidya's future self, Parul moments frozen in perfection, love immortalized in frames. Four bedrooms stood quietly, promising comfort, dreams, and secrets of a life rebuilt.

And then it hit them: the entire 10-floor building belonged to Vidya.

Vidya's parents stepped fully inside, but their eyes kept darting to her, pleading, soft, full of years of unspoken guilt. Vidya's chest heaved. Parul tugged at her hand, but she didn't stop.

"You think just this.. this palace, these pictures, these walls" Vidya's voice trembled with fury, "...can erase everything? You left me there! Left me to rot! Do you know what it feels like to be scared in your own skin, to be treated like you don't even exist?"

Her mother's eyes filled with tears. "Beta, we-"

"Don't!" Vidya screamed, pointing at her. "You don't get to say anything! You weren't there when I needed you. When Aunty hit me, when Uncle humiliated me..where were you? Where were you?"

Her father stepped forward, voice low but urgent. "Vidya, we made mistakes, yes. But we did what we thought was best. You have to understand-"

"Understand?!" She laughed bitterly, the sound sharp and jagged, cutting through the serene air of the house. "You sent me away like a package! A package to someone else's mercy! Do you even hear yourselves? My life has been a nightmare because of you!"

Her mother's lip quivered. "Beta, if we could turn back time-"

Vidya slammed her palm against the pristine wall. The jhumar above shook slightly, crystal beads catching the sunlight like shards of accusation. "Turn back time? You think words can fix this? Words can't fix bruises, words can't heal nights spent crying alone. You made me this.. this..broken!"

Parul's small voice trembled but pierced the tension. "Vidi, please.."

Vidya whirled, pointing at her. "Stay out of this! This is between them and me!"

Her father's hands shook, but he didn't retreat. "Beta, we're here now. We want to fix this. Please.. just let us try."

Vidya's eyes burned like molten fire. She wanted to believe him God, she wanted to but the walls of betrayal, fear, and anger had been built brick by brick for years. "Fix this? There's nothing to fix! You don't get it! You never got it!"

Her mother's voice broke, desperate. "Beta..please.."

Vidya turned away, the tears spilling freely now, hot and blinding. "I don't know if I can forgive you. I don't even know if I want to!"

Vidya was now sobbing, "Nikal jao mere ghar se"

Her parents looked at parul who lowered her gaze and they took their leave.

Just then Adi entered. As soon she saw him she ran to him and hugged him. It was the most comfortable place for her. She cried and fainted.

Adi's POV

I got a text from Parul. She said Vidya is in trouble. I went home. I was in mid way so it didn't take too much time. When i reached I saw 2 people leaving. Her parents. She looked so broken, pale. She saw me and hugged me. I wanted to say many things but I was hearing her sobs. I wanted to comfort her but Everything ran out of my mind as soon as she fainted.

Author's POV

Adi took Vidya in his arms and went into the bedroom. He called a doctor till then Parul checked everything. She said she's okay but doctor is a doctor. Doctor came and just told her to take rest.

Vidya gained conscious after 2 hrs. She saw Adi sitting there holding her hands. His hair was a total mess. His eyes were now red .

Vidya : "Adi..I want something.."

Adi : "Hukum chalao meri jaan.."

Vidya : "I want to leave the surname Reddy"

Adi : "Bcha..I know it's hurting you but how will you do this."

Vidya : "Don't be so innocent. Marry me."

Adi : "Bacha I'm not ready for this yrr. Atleast not now"

Vidya : "What the hell you are saying"

Adi : "Yes I'm not ready. I have some important meeting. Take care."

And after saying this he left her in tears.

To be continued...

Do you think Adi will leave her? What will happen with Vidya's Uncle and aunt? Will her parents try again to gain her trust?
